EM&I is an innovative engineering technological solutions provider working with some of the worlds largest organisations ensuring billion-dollar assets are effectively maintained. As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking a Director of Operations.

Position: Director of Operations (DOO)

Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire / Dyce, Aberdeen / Berlin, Germany or Malta

Package: Salary competitive + 10% bonus + 5% pension contribution + healthcare

Role

The DOO will manage EM&I’s global operations providing direction and leadership of all projects designated by the CEO/COO to ensure that projects are executed safely, to the required quality standard, financial targets and time schedule.

This role includes responsibility for personnel, equipment at the right time and place, and with the correct equipment. Maintain excellent client relationships.

International travel will be required within the boundaries of EM&I’s global operations. The role will be based in one of EM&I’s European bases which may include Malta, Germany or the UK.

Academic Competencies

Degree qualified from a leading university in business, finance, technical or engineering discipline or appropriate management qualification such as an MBA.

Membership of an accredited body such as the Association for Project Management (APM), Project Management Institute (PMI) and / or the British Institute of Project Management (BIPM) is preferred.

Experience Competencies

A minimum of 8 years’ previous experience in a senior management role showing leadership of operational functions, preferably in a service organisation in the oil, gas, petrochemical, renewables or other similar industries

  • Focus on personnel safety, health and the environment - working in compliance with industry-leading clients whilst delivering achieving or exceeding budgeted revenue and gross margin targets
  • Proven track record delivering specialist services underpinned by disruptive technologies
  • Previous experience of delivering annual operating revenue of at least USD 20M with significant gross margins
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen demonstrating the ability to implement effective project controls in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project-based financial system environment
  • Strong focus on service delivery to promote client satisfaction in accordance with Our Values ‘The EM&I Way’
  • Excellent oral and written communicator with the ability to communicate effectively internally at all levels and with senior clients, regulators and classification societies
  • Ability to knowledge share (transmit and receive lessons learned) across regions
  • Effective team building, motivation and leadership skills in accordance with Our Values ‘The EM&I Way’
  • Effective decision-maker with demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Results-driven with the ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Flexible approach requiring the ability to support international projects across multiple time zones and a variety of cultures (requiring a combination of remote support and international travel)
  • Effective oversight of diverse, internationally located resources (personnel, equipment, materials and consumables) to successfully deliver projects
  • Ability and willingness to follow and lead others to follow corporate Management Systems and Standard Operating Procedures
